New! Check out our review of the DeLonghi EC702 espresso machine
Welcome to my review of the Nespresso D290 espresso and coffee machine. It’s currently one of the most popular machines available online.
The Nespresso Concept Automatic D290 Machine is an espresso machine and a coffee maker, and is a part of Nespresso’s Concept Line, which means it is designed with a practical, modern, and logistical design in both style and function.
It’s programmable and has a five cup capacity, using coffee filled capsules in its espresso pod. Available with a three year warranty, the Nespresso D290’s generally sells for around $399
Features of the Nespresso D290 Machine include a high pressure pump, a thermobloc feature that heats water to temperatures of between 187 degrees and 196 degrees, and empties any remaining water.
One system punctures the capsule and soaks coffee, then filters it. It has a functional Jaw system aiding in simple preparation, and automatically ejects used capsules. The machine comes with a removable 34 ounce water container and also automatically controls the amount of coffee in each prepared cup.
- Easy to use and clean

This product is best for those willing to spend extra for a stylish design, or those valuing look over function. A good choice for those who are more coffee drinkers than espresso drinkers, but who still want a multi-functional coffeemaker. Great for those loyal to certain flavors.
Consider this machine if you have got a little extra to spend on a luxury coffee maker/espresso machine, and if you know flavors you like. If you want a machine with convenient features, this is the one. Perfect if you want a coffee maker and only the espresso option occasionally.
“I’m addicted to the machine, the espresso it makes, and have been for about five years now. I’ve made about 5,000 cups of espresso with this, and generally have two to three a day, and I love the machine and the espresso. It’s a super “on demand” coffeemaker, and the results are real!”~Daniel Lebryk (paraphrased for brevity. Read the full review here)
“This machine is the best I’ve bought in my life, and I’ve bought machines from $200 to $1,500, and this is my fave. The milk frothing is amazing and isn’t like anything I have ever seen. The machine comes with aerocino and I am nuts about that as well.” ~S. Kline (paraphrased for brevity. Read the full review here)
